I'm a contributing columnist for the Huntsville Item (Texas) daily newspaper. GhengisJournal is a compilation of my conservative libertarian views. Where I stand: This nation is a republic, not a simple democracy. The Constitution is the basis of our laws, of which we have too many, and many are unconstitutional and many are not enforced. The duties of the Federal Government are those ascribed to it by the Constitution and no others. Congress has no business dispensing cash to curry favor with lobbyists, nor has it any business in our bedrooms; nor should it regulate choices for our own bodies. Welfare is a function of each state. Is the duty of our Federal Government to provide for our common defense and protect the integrity of our borders.
